A connected broker account is required to use EdgeFlo's execution, risk calculation, journaling, and guardrail features. EdgeFlo supports TradeLocker and cTrader. This article covers how to connect each broker type and what to do if the connection fails.
Connecting your broker account is the first step to getting full value from EdgeFlo. Once connected, your trades, balances, and positions sync automatically in real time and the full platform becomes available.
Connecting a TradeLocker account
Note: You will need three things before starting: your TradeLocker email address, your TradeLocker password, and your server name. All three are in the welcome email your broker sent when you created your account. Have that email open before you begin.
Step 1: Open Settings and go to Integrations
- Open EdgeFlo on desktop.
- Click Settings in the bottom-left sidebar.
- Select the Integrations tab along the top of the Settings page.
Step 2: Find your broker or prop firm
On the Integrations page, find your broker one of two ways:
- Type your broker or prop firm name into the Search for your broker or prop firm field.
- Select your broker directly from the Popular list if it appears there.
Step 3: Select TradeLocker as your connection method
After selecting your broker, you will see the available connection methods for that broker.
- Click the TradeLocker card. It is marked Recommended for secure, reliable integration.
Tip: Not sure which platform your account uses? Check your broker's welcome email. It will state whether your account is on TradeLocker, cTrader, or another platform.
Step 4: Review the steps and click Continue
EdgeFlo shows you an overview of the connection steps and a security notice.
- Review the steps listed on the page.
- Note the security statement: EdgeFlo can sync your trading data and execute trading actions you initiate, but cannot withdraw or transfer funds.
- Click Continue.
Step 5: Enter your TradeLocker credentials
You will see a form with three fields. Fill them in using the credentials from your broker's welcome email.
- Enter your Email. This is the email address you registered with your broker, which they use as your TradeLocker login.
- Enter your Password. This is the TradeLocker-specific password included in your broker's welcome email. It is separate from your broker portal password.
- Enter your Server name. This is a short code your broker assigns, for example
8CAPorRISENFX. It appears in the same welcome email. - Click Connect.
Warning: Your TradeLocker login is always an email address, never a numeric account ID. If you enter your account number in the Email field, the connection will fail. Check your broker's welcome email for the correct email address to use.
Note: If you cannot find your credentials, log into your broker's client portal and look for the TradeLocker account section. The email, password, and server name are listed there.
Step 6: Select your trading account
Once your credentials are accepted, a modal will appear listing your trading accounts.
- Find the account you want to sync with EdgeFlo. Each card shows the account label, Account ID, and current balance.
- Click Connect Live Account or Connect Demo Account on that account card.
Warning: Live and Demo accounts are listed separately. A live account with a $0.00 balance is not an error; it means no funds have been deposited yet. Make sure you are connecting the account type you intend to use.
Step 7: Wait for verification to complete
EdgeFlo will verify your account before the connection goes live. You will see a progress bar on the account card. Do not close EdgeFlo during this step. Verification usually takes under a minute.
Your TradeLocker account is now connected
Your account card shows under Connected with a Verified badge. EdgeFlo begins importing your balance, open positions, and trade history automatically. The initial sync can take up to two minutes. You will see a sync indicator in the top-left corner of the app while it runs.
Connecting a cTrader account
Note: This guide assumes you have already created a cTrader account and have your cTrader ID credentials ready. Your cTrader ID is usually the email address you registered with on cTrader.
Step 1: Open Settings and go to Integrations
- Open EdgeFlo on desktop.
- Click Settings in the bottom-left sidebar.
- Select the Integrations tab along the top of the Settings page.
Step 2: Find your broker or prop firm
The Integrations page shows a search bar and a list of popular brokers. Find your broker one of two ways:
- Type your broker or prop firm name into the Search for your broker or prop firm field.
- Select your broker from the Popular list if it appears there.
Warning: Some brokers support both cTrader and TradeLocker. Make sure you know which platform your account is on before proceeding. Connecting via the wrong platform will not find your account.
Step 3: Select cTrader as your connection method
After selecting your broker, you will see the available connection methods for that broker.
- Click the cTrader card. It is marked Recommended for fastest setup and most stable connection.
Tip: Not sure which platform your account uses? Log in to your broker's client portal and check the trading platform listed against your account.
Step 4: Review the steps and continue to cTrader
EdgeFlo shows you an overview of the connection process and a security notice before redirecting you to cTrader.
- Review the steps listed on the page.
- Note the security statement: EdgeFlo can sync your trading data and execute trading actions you initiate, but cannot withdraw or transfer funds.
- Click Continue to cTrader.
Note: Clicking Continue to cTrader redirects you to the cTrader ID website. This is expected. EdgeFlo uses cTrader's official authorization flow to connect securely, so your credentials are entered on cTrader's platform, not EdgeFlo.
Step 5: Authorize EdgeFlo on cTrader ID
You will land on the cTrader ID authorization page. This is cTrader's official portal for granting third-party access.
- If prompted, log in with your cTrader ID (usually your email address) and password.
- Your trading accounts are listed under Access is allowed to these accounts. Check the accounts you want EdgeFlo to access, or click Select all.
- Click Allow access.
Warning: Demo and live accounts are listed separately on this screen. Selecting the wrong type will connect the wrong account in EdgeFlo. Double-check before clicking Allow access.
Step 6: Select your trading account in EdgeFlo
After authorizing, you will return to EdgeFlo automatically. A modal will appear listing the accounts that were granted access.
- Find the trading account you want to sync with EdgeFlo.
- Click Connect Demo Account or Connect Live Account on that account card.
Note: The number of trading accounts you can connect depends on your EdgeFlo plan. The Integrations page shows your usage as "Trading Accounts used: X/Y" so you know how many slots remain.
Your cTrader account is now connected
A "cTrader account linked successfully" confirmation appears at the top of the screen. Your account card now shows under Connected with a Verified badge. EdgeFlo begins importing your balance, open positions, and trade history automatically.
Common connection issues
| Issue | What to check |
|---|---|
| Invalid credentials (TradeLocker) | Check that the Email field contains an email address, not a numeric account ID. Confirm the password is from your broker's welcome email and the server name matches exactly. |
| Wrong account type connected | Click Remove on the connected account card and go through the process again, selecting the correct account type (Live or Demo) when prompted. |
| Verification stuck (TradeLocker) | Wait up to two minutes. If the progress bar does not move and the connection does not confirm, click Remove and reconnect. |
| Wrong account authorized (cTrader) | On the cTrader ID authorization screen, Demo and Live accounts are listed separately. If you authorized the wrong type, repeat the connection and select the correct accounts before clicking Allow access. |
| cTrader credentials rejected | Your cTrader ID is your email address, not a username. If login fails on the cTrader ID page, reset your cTrader ID password directly on the cTrader website. |
| Sync not updating after connection | Check the Last sync timestamp on your account card. If it has not updated recently, try removing and reconnecting the account. |
| Broker not in the list | Use the search bar on the Integrations page. If your broker still does not appear, use the Can't find your broker? option at the bottom of the page. |
Switching or disconnecting an account
You can disconnect your broker account at any time from Settings > Integrations. There are no restrictions on disconnecting.
To replace a connected account with a different one, use the Replace account option. Accounts can be replaced once every 24 hours.
Warning: When you replace an account, broker-imported trades from the previous account are removed from your history. Manually entered trades are not affected.
FAQ
Why does EdgeFlo need my master password for TradeLocker?
EdgeFlo requires your TradeLocker credentials to authenticate with TradeLocker on your behalf, enabling trade execution and data sync. EdgeFlo cannot withdraw or transfer funds — this is enforced at the platform level.
Can I connect a demo account?
Yes. You can connect a live or demo account on both TradeLocker and cTrader. When connecting, select the correct account type (Live or Demo) during the account selection step.
How many broker accounts can I connect?
Basic plan users can connect 1 broker account. Plus plan users can connect up to 3. If you need to connect more than 3 accounts on Plus, additional accounts are available as an add-on from Settings > Billing.
My SL and TP on cTrader look slightly different after the trade is filled. Is that a bug?
No. This is expected behaviour for cTrader. Because cTrader uses pip offsets rather than absolute price levels, a small price movement between when you confirm the trade and when it is filled can shift the final SL and TP slightly. To avoid this, enter SL and TP as pip values directly rather than as absolute price levels.
How long does it take to connect?
cTrader connections are typically instant. TradeLocker connections can take up to two minutes while EdgeFlo verifies and syncs your account data.
What if my broker is not supported?
If your broker does not appear in the search, use the Can't find your broker? option at the bottom of the Integrations page and we will advise on next steps.
