This guide walks you through opening a free cTrader demo account with IC Markets and connecting it to EdgeFlo. No deposit required. Takes about 5 minutes.
This guide uses IC Markets to walk through the setup steps. EdgeFlo has no affiliation with IC Markets and does not recommend one broker over another. Traders using Pepperstone, FP Markets, Tickmill, or any other cTrader-supported broker will find the process is nearly identical. The full list of supported brokers is at ctrader.com/brokers
Before EdgeFlo can track your trades, you need a connected trading account. The fastest way to get started is with a free cTrader demo account. This guide uses IC Markets as the example, but the process is the same with any broker that supports cTrader.
How it all fits together
There are three pieces involved, and they each do a different job.

Step 1: Open the IC Markets demo account page
Go to IC Markets Demo Signup Page (or any other broker)
Fill in the registration form:
- Fill in your personal details
- Click Submit.
Step 2: Check your email and activate your account
After submitting, you will see a confirmation screen telling you an activation link has been sent to your email.
- Open the email from IC Markets and click Activate your account.
- Click the Activate your account button in the email from IC Markets.
Step 3: Set your password
After clicking the activation link, you will be taken to a password creation screen.
- Enter a password and confirm it.
- Click Set Password.
Step 4: Open a cTrader demo account
Inside the IC Markets client area, navigate to the Accounts tab in the left sidebar.
You will see three platform tabs: MT5, cTrader, and MT4. Select cTrader. The account list will show no accounts yet. Click + Open New Demo Account.
A form will appear. Configure the demo account:
- Platform: confirm cTrader is selected.
- Account Type: Raw Spread (default is fine).
- Currency: USD.
- Leverage: 1:1000 or your preferred setting.
- Initial Deposit: choose any amount. A higher virtual balance gives you more room to practice, for example $5,000,000.
- Click Proceed.
Your demo account will be created and appear in the account list.
Step 5: Connect your cTrader account to EdgeFlo
With the demo account created, you can now connect it to EdgeFlo. This takes under two minutes.
- Open EdgeFlo at app.edgeflo.com and log in.
- Go to Settings and select the Integrations tab.
- Click Connect cTrader.
- You will be redirected to the cTrader portal. Log in using the same email and password you used to register with IC Markets.
- You will see a list of accounts linked to your cTrader ID. Select the demo account you just created.
- Click Allow Access.
- You will be redirected back to EdgeFlo. Select your demo account from the dropdown.
- Click Connect Selected Account.
Your demo account is now connected. EdgeFlo will begin syncing your balance and trade history. Every trade you place in cTrader will appear in your EdgeFlo Trading Journal automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to deposit real money to open a demo account?
No. Demo accounts are free and use virtual funds. You do not need to deposit anything or verify your identity to create one.
Does EdgeFlo work with brokers other than IC Markets?
Yes. EdgeFlo connects via cTrader, which works across brokers. If your broker supports cTrader, the connection process is the same. IC Markets is used here as an example only.
Can I switch to a live account later without losing my data?
You can replace your connected account with a live account at any time through Settings > Integrations. Note that replacing an account removes broker-imported trades. Manual journal entries are not affected.
