The News section in EdgeFlo shows you every scheduled economic event that could affect the markets you trade - with impact levels, live data, and a built-in trade blocking tool to keep you disciplined around volatile windows.
Knowing what is coming in the market is a prerequisite for trading with clarity. The News module exists to give you that awareness without turning your platform into a news terminal.
What the News Module Does
The News module pulls in scheduled economic data releases and central bank events from global markets and presents them in chronological order. Every event includes the time (shown in your local timezone), the affected currency, an impact level, and where available, the forecast and previous values alongside the actual result once it is released.
It is not a research tool. It does not offer market commentary, price predictions, or editorial analysis. Its job is to answer one question: "Is there any news coming up that should affect how or when I trade?"
Navigating to News
The news module opens in List View by default. The top-right corner of the page contains the List and Calendar view toggles.
Understanding Impact Levels
Every event in the News module carries an impact indicator. These are colour-coded dots visible in the Impact column of the list.
| Indicator | Level | What it means | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Red | High | Highest market-moving potential. Spreads often widen and volatility spikes. | CPI, NFP, Rate Decisions, GDP |
| Orange | Medium | Moderate impact. Can move the market but typically with less volatility than High events. | Retail Sales, PMI, Trade Balance |
| Grey | Low | Minimal expected impact. Generally safe to trade around. | Bill Auctions, Minor Surveys |
Impact levels are assigned by the data provider. They reflect the historical tendency of each event to move markets, not a prediction of what will happen on any given release.
Reading an Event Row
Each row in the list shows the following columns:
- Time — Scheduled release time in your local timezone.
- Currency — The currency and flag of the affected country.
- Impact — Colour-coded dot representing the impact level.
- Event — Name of the economic release or event.
- Actual — Populated once released (Red/Green indicates relation to forecast).
- Forecast — The market consensus estimate.
- Previous — The prior period's reading.
Opening an Event Detail
Clicking any event name opens a read-only detail view showing the full title, historical data, and a source link. A horizontal line runs across the list. Events above have occurred; events below are upcoming.
