The News module in EdgeFlo offers two ways to look at economic events: List View for scanning what is happening today, and Calendar View for planning ahead across weeks or months. This article explains how each view works and when to use each one.
Both List and Calendar views are built to give you the right level of awareness at the right time without pulling you into analysis paralysis.
The Two Views at a Glance
List View - A chronological feed of economic events. Best for daily use and real-time awareness. Shows time, currency, impact, event name, and Actual / Forecast / Previous values on each row. A current-time marker separates past and upcoming events.
Calendar View - A monthly calendar showing event density and impact per day. Best for planning and weekly prep. Provides a month-level overview at a glance. Days with high-impact events are visually marked. Click any day to see its event list. Useful before the trading week begins.
You can switch between views at any time using the List and Calendar toggle buttons in the top-right corner of the News page. Your active filters carry across both views.
Using List View
List View is the default when you open the News module. It shows all economic events for the selected date range in chronological order, from earliest to latest.
The Current-Time Marker
A horizontal line runs across the list at the point matching your current local time. Events above the line have already been released. Events below the line are still upcoming. This means you can open the News module at any point during the day and instantly see what is next without scanning every row.
Reading Actual vs Forecast
For events that have already been released, the Actual column populates with the result. If the actual came in above the forecast, the value typically appears in green. If it came in below, it appears in red. Events that have not yet been released will show a blank Actual field with the Forecast and Previous columns filled in where data is available.
💡 Tip: Use the date shortcuts at the top of the filter panel - Today, Tomorrow, This week, Next week, This month, and Next month - to move quickly between timeframes without manually adjusting the date range.
Using Calendar View
Calendar View presents the same event data mapped across a monthly calendar grid. Each day in the grid shows a visual summary of that day's events rather than a full event list.
Reading a Calendar Day
Days that contain economic events show impact indicators directly on the calendar tile. Each day is color-coded based on the highest-impact event scheduled for that day:
- Red - The day has at least one high-impact event
- Orange - The day has no high-impact events but at least one medium-impact event
- Grey - The day has no high- or medium-impact events but at least one low-impact event
This color logic makes it easy to scan the month and identify which days carry the most risk. A glance at the calendar tells you which sessions require extra caution or tighter risk management.
ℹ️ Note: A red indicator on a calendar day means there is at least one High impact event scheduled - it does not tell you the specific time or event. Click the day to get the full event list.
Drilling into a Specific Day
Click any day in the calendar grid to open the event list for that day. This shows the same columns as List View - time, currency, impact, event name, and data values - scoped to the selected day only.
When to Use Calendar View
Calendar View is most useful during your pre-session or pre-week planning routine. Before you begin trading each week, spend two minutes in Calendar View to identify which days carry high-impact events. This tells you in advance which sessions you may want to treat with extra caution or adjust your position sizing for.
💡 Tip: If you trade instruments that are sensitive to rate decisions or inflation data - such as USD, EUR, or GBP pairs - pay particular attention to days where multiple high-impact releases fall in the same session. These are days where your risk management plan matters most.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do my filters apply in both views?
Yes. Any filters you set in the left panel - currency, impact level, categories, or date range - apply in both List View and Calendar View. Switching between views does not reset your filters.
Why does Calendar View show a red indicator on a day when my filtered currencies have no high-impact events?
If you have already applied a currency filter, the indicator on a calendar day reflects only events matching your filter. If you are seeing unexpected red indicators, check that your Currencies filter is set correctly and that Impact is filtered to High. If the issue persists, contact support.
How do I navigate between months in Calendar View?
Use the left and right arrow buttons at the top of the calendar panel to move between months. You can also use the date range shortcuts in the left filter panel to jump to This month, Next month, and similar presets.
Which view should I use during a live trading session?
List View is the better choice during an active session. It shows you exactly what is coming up in chronological order, and the current-time marker means you can see at a glance what is next without scrolling. Calendar View is better suited to planning sessions before the week begins.
