Notebook is EdgeFlo's space for strategy notes, playbooks, mindset work, and performance reflections. This article explains what Notebook is, how it is organised, and how to get started.
Notebook is where you think, plan, and reflect as a trader. It gives you a structured but flexible space to capture strategy notes, build playbooks, work on your mindset, and document your performance reviews.
The goal is not to build another complex tool you have to manage. Notebook is designed to stay out of your way and be there when you need it.
What Notebook is for
Notebook supports the parts of trading that happen away from the chart. You might use it to:
- Write and refine your strategy playbook
- Document a pre-session mindset routine
- Capture post-session reflections and lessons
- Build a performance review process
- Keep notes on recurring mistakes and how to correct them
- Work through any structured template relevant to your trading
How Notebook is organised
When you open Notebook, you see content in this order:
- Templates (shown first, including any you have pinned)
- New Note button (above the search bar on the right, always visible)
- Pinned Notes
- Recent Notes
- Folders
This order is intentional. Templates are the recommended starting point if you are creating a new note. They give you structure without the blank-page problem.
Templates
Notebook includes pre-built templates across four categories:
| Category | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Playbook | Strategy documentation, setup criteria, rules |
| Mindset | Mental preparation, emotional check-ins, discipline work |
| Productivity | Session planning, time management, focus routines |
| Performance Review | Weekly or monthly self-assessment and trade analysis |
Templates open in read-only preview first. To use one, click Use template and a full editable copy is created in your notes. The original template stays unchanged.
Creating notes
There are two ways to create a note:
- From a template: click any template, review the preview, then click Use template. A new editable note opens with the template content pre-filled.
- From scratch: click + New Note at the top of the left panel. A blank note opens immediately. Start typing. Notes save automatically as you type.
Notes list and previews
The notes list on the left side of Notebook shows each note with:
- The note title and emoji (if set)
- A preview of the first few lines of content
- The time since it was last edited ("Just now", "2 hours ago", "Yesterday", or a date if older than 7 days)
Auto-save
Notebook saves your work automatically while you type. You will see the status indicator at the top right. You do not need to press any save button.
Folders and pinning
You can organise notes into folders. Folders support a colour tag which applies to the folder icon and label. Notes inside a folder do not inherit the colour.
Notes and templates can also be pinned. Pinned items appear in a dedicated Pinned section at the top and remain accessible regardless of which folder they live in.
Tip: Pin the templates and notes you use most often so they are always one click away. Pinned templates appear above the rest of the template library.
Frequently asked questions
Is Notebook connected to the Trade Journal?
Notebook is a separate space. Notes you write there do not automatically appear in the journal or vice versa. It is designed as a standalone thinking and planning space.
Can I search across all my notes?
Yes. The search bar in Notebook searches across all note titles and content. Use it to find any note without having to browse through folders manually.
