Notebook folders let you organize your notes by topic, strategy, or time period. This article covers how to create folders, apply colour tags, move notes between folders, and pin notes for quick access.

As your notes grow, folders keep them organized. You can group notes by strategy, session type, time period, or any structure that makes sense for how you work. Notes can be moved freely between folders at any time, and pinning gives you quick access to the ones you use most often.

Creating a folder

  1. Open Notebook from the left navigation bar.
  2. In the left panel, find the Folders section.
  3. Click New folder or the folder creation button.
  4. A folder creation panel opens where you can set:
    • Folder name: Type a name for the folder
    • Colour tag: Choose a colour from the available options
  5. Confirm to create the folder. It appears in the Folders section of the left panel.

How folder colours work

The colour you assign to a folder applies to the folder icon and the folder label in the notes list. It does not apply to the notes inside the folder.

Important: Note content and individual notes do not inherit the folder colour. Colours are a visual label for the folder itself only. This keeps the notes list clean and prevents visual clutter when you have many notes inside a coloured folder.

Tip: You can also pin templates. Pinned templates appear at the top of the Templates section so you can reach your most-used templates without scrolling. See How to Use Templates in Notebook for steps on pinning templates.

Frequently asked questions

Does moving a note to a folder change any of its content?

No. Moving a note only changes its organizational location. Title, emoji, content, and timestamps are not affected.

Can I put a note in more than one folder?

No. Each note belongs to one folder at a time. If you want a note accessible from multiple contexts, pin it instead. Pinned notes appear in the Pinned section regardless of which folder they are in.

Does folder colour affect notes inside the folder?

No. Colour is applied to the folder icon and label only. Notes inside the folder have no colour inherited from the folder.

Can I add emojis to folders?

No. Emojis are only available for individual notes, not folders. Folders support colour tags for visual organization.
