How to Use Templates in Notebook

Notebook templates give you a structured starting point for strategy notes, mindset work, performance reviews, and productivity planning. This article explains how to open, use, pin, and edit templates.

Templates are the recommended way to start a note in Notebook. They are pre-built structures covering strategy, mindset, productivity, and performance review. Each template opens as a read-only preview first so you can check the structure, then creates a personal editable copy when you choose to use it.

Using a template

  1. Open Notebook from the left navigation bar.
  2. The Templates section appears at the top of the screen.
  3. Click any template card to open a read-only preview.
  4. Scroll through the preview to see the structure and content.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I not edit a template directly when I open it?

Templates open in read-only preview mode. This is intentional. To edit the content, click Use template to create your own editable copy. If you want to change the template itself for future use, use the pencil icon or Edit template option in the options menu.

I clicked a template and nothing happened. What should I do?

The first click opens the read-only preview. From the preview, click Use template to create an editable copy. If the Use template button does nothing after clicking, refresh the page and try again. If the issue continues across multiple templates, contact support.

Can I use the same template more than once?

Yes. Click Use template each time you want a fresh copy. Every copy is independent and does not affect previous copies or the original template.

How do I find all templates I have used previously?

Notes created from templates appear in your notes list like any other note. Search by title or browse through your folders and recent notes to find them.
