How to Set Price Alerts

Price alerts notify you when an instrument reaches a specific level. This article explains how to create, manage, and use alerts in EdgeFlo to stay patient and reactive rather than watching the screen constantly.

Alerts let you mark a price level and walk away. When price reaches your point of interest, EdgeFlo notifies you so you can review the setup and decide whether to act. Alerts are a patience tool, not a signal system.

Creating an Alert

  1. Open the Alerts tab in the right sidebar of the Trading platform.
  2. Click + Create New Alert.
  3. Select the Symbol (instrument) you want to set the alert on.
  4. Choose the Condition: Crossing Up, Crossing Down, or Crossing (either direction).
  5. Enter the Price level where you want the alert to fire.
  6. Set the Trigger Type: Once (fires once and expires) or persistent.
  7. Optionally set an Expiration Date or add a Message to remind yourself why you set the alert.
  8. Press Create Alert.

You can also set an alert directly from the chart by right-clicking at a price level and selecting the alert option from the context menu.

All alerts are listed in the Alerts tab. Each alert shows the instrument, price level, direction condition, and current status. Use the three-dot menu on any alert to Pause, Edit, or Delete it.

Status Meaning
Active Watching for the condition. Has not fired yet.
Triggered Price reached the level. The alert fired and the time is recorded.
Expired The alert reached its expiration date without triggering.

How Alerts Fit Into Analysis

The most effective use of alerts is at the end of your chart analysis. After marking your key levels and identifying where you would want to enter, set an alert at the edge of that zone. When the alert fires, return to the chart, assess whether your entry criteria are met, and decide whether to execute. This keeps you away from the screen during low-probability waiting periods.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I set an alert on any instrument, or only those on my watchlist?

You can search for any supported symbol when creating an alert. You are not limited to instruments currently pinned to your watchlist.

Do alerts expire if I do not trigger them?

Alerts without an expiration date remain active indefinitely. If you set an expiration date and price does not reach the level by that date, the alert status changes to Expired.
