EdgeFlo is moving away from MetaTrader toward TradeLocker and cTrader. Existing MetaTrader connections continue to work for now. This article explains what is changing, which platform to move to based on your location, and how to make the switch.
EdgeFlo is shifting away from MetaTrader and moving fully toward TradeLocker and cTrader. Your existing MetaTrader connection continues to work as normal for now, but EdgeFlo is no longer investing in MetaTrader support and is encouraging everyone to switch over the next few weeks.
This is not an emergency. Think of it as a heads up with enough time to make a calm, considered move.
Why EdgeFlo is making this move
MetaTrader is one of the most established trading platforms in the world, but it was built with a closed architecture. It was never designed to share data with external tools like EdgeFlo — and that created real problems for traders.
The old way: MetaTrader
Because MetaTrader has no direct data access for third-party tools, EdgeFlo had to route everything through a bridge service. That bridge checked the account every few minutes, translated the data, and forwarded it to EdgeFlo. The result was predictable:
| Delayed trades in journal | Sync failures without warning | Always a step behind |
The new way: TradeLocker and cTrader
TradeLocker and cTrader both have open architectures with direct API access. EdgeFlo connects to them without any bridge or translation layer. Trades flow straight through in real time:
| Trades appear instantly | Reliable sync, every time | The EdgeFlo experience traders deserve |
Note: Your existing trade history in EdgeFlo is not going anywhere. Any trades already synced from your MetaTrader account remain in your journal exactly as they are.
Which platform to move to
If you are in the United States
TradeLocker is the right choice - and for US traders, it is the only supported option. cTrader is not available to US retail traders. This is a restriction set by Spotware, cTrader's developer, and applies across every broker that uses their platform. It has nothing to do with EdgeFlo.
TradeLocker is a modern, web-based trading platform that connects directly to EdgeFlo with real-time trade sync. EdgeFlo currently supports eleven brokers through TradeLocker Hub, all accepting US traders, all with free demo accounts.
If you are outside the United States
You have two options: TradeLocker or cTrader. Both connect directly to EdgeFlo with real-time sync. If your existing broker already supports cTrader, that may be the fastest path. For those starting fresh, TradeLocker is straightforward to set up.

How to make the switch
- Pick a broker from the table above and register on their website
- Create a demo or live trading account through their portal
- In EdgeFlo, go to Settings, then Integrations, then Connect existing account — search for your broker and select TradeLocker
- Enter your credentials: email address, TradeLocker password, and your broker's server name
Your existing EdgeFlo trade history from MetaTrader stays exactly as it is. Switching platforms does not delete anything.
Warning: Your login for TradeLocker is always the email address you registered with your broker — not any numeric account ID. Using the wrong login will cause the connection to fail.
FAQ
Will my MetaTrader connection stop working right now?
No. Your existing connection continues to work while you make the transition. EdgeFlo will communicate clearly before any changes affect your current setup.
Will I lose my trade history if I switch?
No. Your trade history is stored in your EdgeFlo account, not in the MetaTrader connection. Switching platforms does not affect anything already synced to your journal.
Do I have to change brokers?
You may not need to. Some brokers support both MetaTrader and TradeLocker. If yours does, you can open a TradeLocker account under the same broker. Contact EdgeFlo support and the team will check for you.
Why can't I use cTrader if I am in the US?
cTrader is blocked for US retail traders by Spotware, the platform's developer. This is not an EdgeFlo decision — it applies across every broker using cTrader. TradeLocker is the supported option for US traders.
How long does the switch take?
Most traders are connected to a new broker and syncing within the same day. The EdgeFlo support team is available to help if anything comes up along the way.
