How to Use Trade Lines

Trade lines are the horizontal lines on the chart that show your entry, stop loss, and take profit levels for open positions. This article explains what they show and how to interact with them.

When you have an open position, EdgeFlo displays the relevant levels directly on the chart as trade lines. These lines give you a live visual reference for your entry price, stop loss, and take profit without needing to look at the positions table.

What Trade Lines Show

EdgeFlo chart showing Entry line, stop loss and take profit
Line What it represents
Entry line   The price at which your position was opened
Stop loss line   Your current stop loss level. Shown in red.
Take profit line   Your take profit target. Shown in green.

Modifying Levels From the Chart

You can drag trade lines directly on the chart to modify your stop loss or take profit without opening the trade panel. Click and hold the line, drag it to the new level, and release. The change applies to your live position immediately.

Only move levels in line with your trade management rules. Dragging a stop further away to avoid being stopped out is one of the most common ways traders turn a manageable loss into a larger one.

Modifying Levels From the Positions Table

If you prefer not to drag on the chart, open the Open Positions tab in the positions table and press Edit on the relevant position. Enter the new stop loss or take profit value and confirm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I drag the entry line to change my entry price?

The entry line is a reference marker showing where your position was opened. It cannot be moved as it represents a completed fill.

Will my trade lines appear for all instruments at once?

Trade lines appear on the chart for the instrument currently displayed. If you switch to a different instrument's chart, lines for that instrument's open positions are shown. Positions on other instruments are visible in the positions table.

What happens to the lines when a trade closes?

Trade lines for closed positions are removed from the chart automatically once the position is closed.
