EdgeFlo prompts you to log your emotion and reflect on the trade immediately after you enter and exit a position. This article explains what the prompts ask, why they exist, and where the data goes.
The post-trade prompt appears twice for every trade: once when you enter a position and once when you close it. It captures your emotional state at the exact moment of execution, while the feeling is still present. That data feeds directly into your journal and your weekly review, giving you an honest record of how emotion influenced your trading decisions over time.
The Entry Prompt
Immediately after you open a position, a prompt appears in the top right of the Trading platform. It shows the instrument and entry price, then asks: What emotion drove this entry?
Select the emoji that best matches how you are feeling. Options include states like calm, anxious, confident, greed-driven, and others. Your selection is saved to the journal entry for that trade.
The Exit Prompt
When you close a position, the exit prompt appears. It includes:
- The instrument and the realised P&L for the closed trade
- An emotion selector: how do you feel right now?
- A checkbox: I followed my trade plan
- An optional note field for a typed or voice reflection
- A Go to Journal button to open the trade in full journal view
- A Save button to submit the entry
The Trade Plan Checkbox
The I followed my trade plan checkbox is one of the most important data points EdgeFlo captures. Be honest when answering it. If you deviated from your plan, checking No records that deviation in the journal. Reviewing the pattern of when and why you go off-plan is one of the most valuable things you can do with your journal data.
Voice Reflections
Instead of typing a note, press the microphone icon and speak your reflection. EdgeFlo transcribes it automatically and saves the text to your journal entry. This is useful when you want to capture a thought quickly without typing.
Where the Data Goes
Everything captured in the post-trade prompts, entry emotion, exit emotion, plan adherence, and reflection notes, is synced automatically to your Trading Journal. You can view it by clicking on the trade in the Closed Positions table or by opening the Journal module and navigating to the day.
Entry and exit emotions also feed into the EdgeScore's discipline and behavioral tracking components, and appear in the weekly AI review for Plus plan subscribers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I skip the post-trade prompt?
Yes. You can dismiss the prompt without filling it in. However, any fields you skip will be empty in your journal. The data is only useful if it is captured consistently. Making it a habit to complete the prompt, even briefly, pays off significantly when you review patterns over time.
Can I edit the emotion or note after I save it?
You can edit trade notes and reflections in the Journal module after the trade is saved. Navigate to the trade in your journal, open the expanded view, and edit the relevant field.
Does the emotion data affect my EdgeScore?
The emotion tags contribute to the behavioral tracking component of your EdgeScore and are used by the weekly AI review to surface patterns. They do not directly penalise or reward the score, but they inform the analysis.
What happens if I close multiple positions at once?
If you close all positions simultaneously using Exit All or a bulk close action, the exit prompt appears for each trade placed.
Is the voice reflection saved as audio or text?
The voice reflection is transcribed to text and saved as a written note. The audio recording itself is not stored; only the transcript.
