Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra security layer to your EdgeFlo account by requiring both your password and a verification code sent via SMS when you log in. This guide walks you through enabling 2FA.
Before you start
You'll need:
- Access to your EdgeFlo account
- A phone number to receive SMS verification codes
- Your current password to confirm the setup
We require a recent sign-in before you can enable 2FA, so you may be asked to log in again if your session is older.
Step-by-step setup
1. Navigate to Security settings
Go to Settings (bottom of the left sidebar) and select the Security tab.
2. Click "Set up 2FA"
Under the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) section, click the Set up 2FA button.
3. Confirm your password
A popup box will appear asking you to confirm your current password. Enter your password and click Continue. This security check ensures only you can enable 2FA on your account.
4. Enter your phone number
A modal will ask for your phone number. Enter the number where you want to receive SMS verification codes (include the country code, e.g. +1 for US).
You can optionally add a label like "Personal phone" to help you remember which number this is.
Click Send verification code.
5. Enter the SMS code
You'll receive an SMS with a one-time verification code. Enter this code in the verification screen to confirm your phone number.
What happens at login
Once 2FA is enabled, every time you log into EdgeFlo, you'll be asked for:
- Your email and password
- A 6-digit code sent via SMS to your registered phone number
Check your text messages for the code and enter it on the login screen. The code expires after 10 minutes.
Managing 2FA
Disable 2FA
Go to Settings Security. Under Two-Factor Authentication, you'll see an option to disable it. You'll need to confirm your password and provide a verification code to turn it off.
FAQ
Do I have to use 2FA?
No, 2FA is optional. However, it's strongly recommended for any trading account because it prevents unauthorised access even if someone learns your password.
What if I change my phone number?
You'll need to update your 2FA phone number in Settings Security. You can change it anytime by confirming your password and going through the SMS verification process again with the new number. You will need access to your old phone for a one-time sms verification.
