Setting a trade plan as Active in Edge connects it to your entire EdgeFlo workflow. This article explains how to activate a plan, what changes across the platform when you do, and how to switch between plans.
Building a trade plan in Edge is only half the picture. Setting it as Active is what connects the plan to your live trading workflow. An Active plan appears everywhere you need it: pre-market, during trading, in the journal, and in post-trade review.
What "Active" means
Only one plan can be Active at a time. When a plan is Active, EdgeFlo treats it as your current working strategy. Trades taken while the plan is Active are automatically tagged to it, and plan stats update accordingly.
An Active plan appears in four places across EdgeFlo:
| Location | What you see |
|---|---|
| Trading panel | Your plan is available as a reference panel during chart analysis and trade execution |
| Pre-market routine | A daily banner prompts you to review your Active plan before the session begins |
| Trade Journal | The Active plan is pre-selected as the default plan on new trade entries |
| Post-trade review | The Active plan is shown by default when you mark whether you followed the plan |
How to set a plan as Active
- Open Edge from the left navigation bar.
- Find the plan you want to activate in the My Plans list.
- Click the plan to open it.
- Toggle the Active switch to on.
- If another plan is currently Active, a confirmation modal will appear. Confirm to switch.
- The newly activated plan moves to the top of your My Plans list and is pinned there.
Tip: You can also activate a plan directly from the My Plans list without opening it. Look for the Active toggle on the plan card.
Switching to a different Active plan
If you want to switch strategies, you can activate a different plan at any time. Here is what happens when you switch:
- The current Active plan is automatically deactivated
- A confirmation modal appears before the switch takes effect
- The new plan becomes Active and moves to the top of My Plans
- From that point forward, new trades are auto-tagged to the new Active plan
- Historical trades tagged to the old plan remain tagged to it and continue to count toward its stats
What changes across EdgeFlo when you activate a plan
In the Trading panel
Your Active plan becomes available as a side panel in the Trading view. You can open it during a session to review your charting process, entry criteria, and trade management rules without leaving the chart. The panel shows the plan in view-only mode while you are trading.
In the pre-market routine
Each day before the session, a banner prompts you to review your Active plan. When you open the plan from the banner, you can review all sections and tick off your charting process steps. Once you click Mark as reviewed, the banner closes for that session.
In the Trade Journal
When a trade is imported or entered manually in the journal, the Active plan is pre-selected as the plan used for that trade. You can change this manually on any individual trade if needed.
In post-trade review
After closing a trade, the post-trade panel asks whether you followed your plan. The Active plan is shown as the default selection. Your answer (Yes or No) is recorded against the plan and contributes to your compliance score in Plan Stats.
If no plan is Active
Note: If no plan is set as Active, EdgeFlo will prompt you to activate one when you try to open the trading panel's plan reference or when your pre-market routine runs. Trades taken with no Active plan will not be auto-tagged to any plan. You can still manually tag them in the journal afterward.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have more than one Active plan at the same time?
No. Only one plan can be Active at a time. If you want to track performance across multiple strategies, you can manually tag trades to different plans in the journal, but only one plan is auto-tagged to new trades at any given time.
What happens to my old plan stats when I switch Active plans?
Stats for your previous Active plan remain intact. Trades tagged to it continue to count. Only trades taken after the switch will auto-tag to the new Active plan.
Can I activate a preset plan directly, or do I need to duplicate it first?
You can reference a preset as a read-only view, but presets cannot be set as Active. To activate a preset-based plan, duplicate it into My Plans first, then activate the copy.
My Active plan is not showing in the Trading panel. What should I check?
First, confirm that a plan is set as Active in Edge by checking the My Plans list. If the Active toggle is on but the plan is still not showing in the Trading panel, try refreshing the page. If the issue persists, contact support.
Does activating a plan affect the plans of other EdgeFlo users on my account?
No. Plans and Active plan selections are per-user. If you are on a Plus plan with multiple connected accounts, each account user has their own plan setup.
