Edge automatically tracks performance and compliance for each of your trade plans. This article explains how Plan Stats work, what each metric means, and how trades get tagged to a plan.
Knowing whether a strategy is working is only possible if you have data. Edge automatically calculates performance and compliance metrics for each trade plan based on the trades tagged to it, giving you a factual basis to evaluate, adapt, or replace strategies over time.
Plan Stats turn "I think this strategy works" into something you can actually measure.
Understanding Plan Stats
Every trade plan in Edge has a Plan Stats section on the right. Stats start empty and build up as trades are tagged to the plan in your journal. There are four metrics:
| Metric | What it measures |
|---|---|
| Trades taken | Total number of trades tagged to this plan (auto-tagged and manually tagged combined) |
| Win rate | Percentage of winning trades out of all trades tagged to this plan |
| Net PnL | Total profit or loss across all trades tagged to this plan |
| Compliance | Percentage of tagged trades where you marked "Followed trade plan?" as Yes |
How trades get tagged to a plan
Trades are linked to a plan in two ways: automatically and manually.
Auto-tagging
When a plan is set as Active, any trade taken while that plan is Active is automatically tagged to it. The tagging happens when the trade is imported from your connected broker account. You do not need to do anything manually for auto-tagging to work.
Note: Auto-tagging requires a plan to be Active at the time the trade was taken. Trades taken with no Active plan will not be auto-tagged. You can still tag them manually in the journal.
Manual tagging
In the Trade Journal, you can open any individual trade and manually select which plan it was tagged to. This is useful for:
- Trades taken before you activated the plan
- Trades you want to reassign to a different plan
- Trades taken with no Active plan set at the time
Manually tagged trades count toward that plan's stats exactly the same as auto-tagged trades.
How compliance is calculated
Compliance is the percentage of trades tagged to a plan where you answered Yes to "Followed trade plan?" This field is set during post-trade review and can also be adjusted inside the Trade Journal on any individual trade.
Example: if you have taken four trades tagged to a plan and marked three of them as "Followed = Yes" and one as "Followed = No", your compliance for that plan is 75%.
Tip: Compliance is only meaningful if you are honest. If you did not follow the plan on a trade, mark it as No even if the trade was profitable. The data is for you. A high compliance score built on inaccurate entries tells you nothing useful.
Where to set or edit the "Followed trade plan?" field
There are two ways to set this field:
- Post-trade review: after a position is closed, a modal appears where you can mark whether you followed the plan. The Active plan is shown as the default.
- Trade Journal: open any trade, scroll to the plan section, and update the Yes/No field at any time. Changes apply immediately to plan stats.
How to view Plan Stats for a specific plan
- Open Edge from the left navigation bar.
- Click the plan you want to review from the My Plans list.
- Scroll to the Plan Stats section at the bottom of the plan.
- Review the four metrics: Trades taken, Win rate, Net PnL, and Compliance.
Using plan data to make strategy decisions
The value of Plan Stats is that they give you something to compare across plans rather than relying on gut feel. A plan with a strong win rate and high compliance is performing as intended. A plan with a low compliance score might be underperforming not because the strategy is wrong, but because you are not following it consistently.
Use the data to ask specific questions:
- Is my win rate consistent with the edge I believe this strategy has?
- When I follow the plan precisely, do results improve compared to trades where I deviated?
- Is a low Net PnL driven by strategy issues, or by a handful of outlier losses I should review?
Frequently asked questions
Why are my Plan Stats empty even though I have taken trades?
Stats only update for trades tagged to that specific plan. If no plan was Active when you took your trades, or if you have not manually tagged any trades to the plan in the journal, the stats will remain empty. Open the journal and tag the relevant trades manually.
Can I change the plan a trade is tagged to after the fact?
Yes. Open the trade in the Trade Journal and change the plan selection from the plan field. The stats for both plans will update to reflect the change.
Does my compliance score reset when I edit the plan?
No. Compliance is based on the trades tagged to the plan and the Yes/No answers recorded for each. Editing the plan content does not affect the compliance calculation.
Why do my plan stats look different from what I see in the Dashboard?
The Dashboard shows overall performance across all trades. Plan Stats in Edge show performance only for trades tagged to that specific plan. The two views will differ if not all your trades are tagged to a single plan.
My plan stats look wrong. What should I send to support?
Take a screenshot of the Plan Stats section, then note two or three specific trades you expected to be included. Check whether those trades are tagged to the plan in the journal, and whether the "Followed trade plan?" field is set on them. Include all of this when contacting support.
