MetaTrader Connection Failed Due to A Broker or Service Issue

Sometimes a MetaTrader connection fails for reasons unrelated to login details. The issue may be on the broker's side or with the service that handles MetaTrader connections.

What could be happening

  • Broker not compatible or not supported
  • MetaTrader connection service instability or outage
  • Broker server outage or maintenance
  • Rate limit triggered by too many connection attempts

What each error message means

Broker not supported

This broker cannot be connected through MetaTrader on EdgeFlo at this time. If you have a cTrader account, that can be connected instead.

Connection service is unstable

The service that handles MetaTrader connections is experiencing issues. This is not related to your account. Wait a few minutes and try again.

Broker server unavailable

The broker's server is not responding. This usually indicates maintenance or an outage on the broker's side. Check the broker's status page and try again once they are back online.

Retries temporarily paused

EdgeFlo has paused connection attempts for 10 minutes. This prevents the account from being temporarily blocked by the broker due to too many failed attempts. Wait for the countdown to finish before trying again.

Connection timed out

The connection took too long to complete. This is usually caused by a slow broker server or an unstable internet connection. Check your connection and try again.

What to do

  1. Wait a few minutes, then try again.
  2. Check the broker's website or status page for any maintenance announcements.
  3. If the issue continues, contact support and use Export diagnostics on the connection screen first.

Tip: cTrader connects instantly and is not affected by MetaTrader service issues. If you have a cTrader account, it is the most reliable option.
