Alert message: "Trade placed during a restricted news window."
🔵 Trade placed during a restricted news window.
This message appears when you attempt to place a trade within the blocked window around a high-impact economic event affecting an instrument on your watchlist.
What triggered this?
A Level 1 high-impact news event is scheduled within your configured block window, and you attempted to trade an affected instrument during that time.
Example:
US Non-Farm Payrolls scheduled at 13:30 UTC.
You configured a 30-minute pre-event block.
You attempt to trade EURUSD at 13:10 UTC.
Guardrails activates.
The trade button becomes grayed out for the duration of the news block window.
Why this guardrail exists
High-impact news events often cause:
- Sudden volatility spikes
- Spread widening
- Significant slippage
- Rapid price reversals
Even high-quality setups can be invalidated in seconds during major releases.
This rule protects you from structurally avoidable risk during unpredictable market conditions.
What counts as a Level 1 event?
Guardrails blocks trading only around the highest impact events, including:
- Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP)
- Federal Reserve interest rate decisions (FOMC)
- Consumer Price Index (CPI) releases
- GDP releases from major economies
- Major central bank policy announcements
Lower impact events do not trigger this guardrail.
How does the block window work?
- You configure how long before the event trading is blocked
- You configure how long after the event trading remains blocked
- The block applies automatically to relevant instruments
Once the post-event window ends, trading unlocks automatically.
Can I override it?
Depending on your settings, overrides may be allowed.
If you override:
- The action is logged in your journal
- Repeated violations may impact your Discipline score
Overrides during major news should be deliberate and strategy-based.
When does trading unlock?
Trading automatically unlocks once the configured post-event block period ends.
No manual reset is required.
