How to connect a free cTrader demo account

Connect a free cTrader demo account to EdgeFlo in about two minutes, no broker paperwork required. This article walks you through creating a cTrader ID, getting your demo account, and connecting it to EdgeFlo.

A cTrader demo account gives you a practice account you can connect to EdgeFlo right away, without waiting on a broker application or funding a live account. This article covers how to create one and connect it from your Settings page.

EdgeFlo works best when you can start practicing your discipline loop immediately. Connecting a demo account first lets you experience guardrails, journaling, and trade review before you ever risk real capital.

Before you start

You do not need an existing broker account to do this. You only need an email address (or a Google account) to create your cTrader ID. The whole process takes about two minutes and does not require a credit card.

Step 1: Open the Integrations page

Go to Settings and select the Integrations tab. If you have not connected a trading account yet, you will see two options.

Select Create a cTrader demo account. This opens a guided popup with a short video and a button that takes you to cTrader.

Note: If you already have an existing broker account with cTrader, MetaTrader, or TradeLocker, use the Connect existing account button instead. This guide is for setting up a brand new, free demo account.

Step 2: Create your cTrader ID

Selecting Create a cTrader demo account opens a new tab at app.ctrader.com. Follow these steps there:

Select the Log in button in the top right corner
Select Register
Register with Google, or enter your email and create a password
Select Create cTrader ID

Tip: Your demo account is created automatically once your cTrader ID is set up. You do not need to find a separate "create demo account" button on cTrader's site.

Step 3: Connect your demo account to EdgeFlo

Once your cTrader ID is created, return to the EdgeFlo tab. Select Connect cTrader at the bottom of the guide panel. EdgeFlo will detect your new demo account and connect it automatically.

Warning: If you switch back to EdgeFlo too quickly after creating your cTrader ID, your demo account may still be provisioning. Wait a few seconds on the cTrader site before returning to EdgeFlo and selecting Connect.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to fund the demo account?

No. Demo accounts come virtual funds automatically. You never need to deposit real money to use a demo account with EdgeFlo.

Can I switch from a demo account to a live account later?

Yes. Once you are ready to trade with real funds, go to the Integrations page and select Connect existing account to link a live broker account. Your guardrails and journal settings carry over.

Why can't EdgeFlo find my demo account?

This usually happens if you return to EdgeFlo and select Connect before your demo account finishes setting up on cTrader's side. Wait about 30 seconds after creating your cTrader ID, then try Connect cTrader again.

Is my cTrader ID the same as my EdgeFlo login?

No. Your cTrader ID is a separate account you create directly with cTrader. EdgeFlo connects to it using your cTrader credentials but does not replace your EdgeFlo login.

Can I connect more than one demo account?

Each EdgeFlo seat supports one connected trading account at a time. You can disconnect and connect a different account from the Integrations page at any point.
