EdgeFlo asks for a card to start your free trial. Here's the honest reason why, what we do with your card, and how to make sure you're never charged if you don't want to be.
If you've wondered why a "free" trial needs a card, you deserve a straight answer. This article explains the logic behind it, what actually happens with your card, and how to cancel so you're never charged.
EdgeFlo is built for traders who want complete clarity over their performance. Every feature we build - and every person we build for - is chosen with that in mind. The card requirement is part of that same thinking.
Why we ask for a card
We could make EdgeFlo free to sign up with just an email address. More people would start a trial. Most of them wouldn't be the right people.
EdgeFlo is a platform for traders who are serious about their edge - people who track trades, analyse patterns, and hold themselves accountable to their performance. The card requirement is how we filter for that. It's a small commitment that tells us you're serious enough to be worth our time - and that we're worth yours.
It also keeps the platform clean. Requiring a card blocks spam accounts, bots, and users who are far too early in their journey for what EdgeFlo offers.
Note: The card is not charged at signup.
What we do (and don't do) with your card
| What happens | Details |
|---|---|
| Authorization hold | A small hold is placed to verify the card is real and active. It is not a charge and won't appear as a deduction. |
| No charge during trial | Nothing is taken from your account during the 7-day trial period. |
| Charge on Day 8 | If you haven't cancelled, your subscription starts and your card is charged the plan rate. |
| Card storage | Your card details are stored by Stripe - not by EdgeFlo. We never see or store your raw card number. |
Is my card information safe?
Yes. EdgeFlo uses Stripe for all payment processing. Stripe is the same infrastructure used by Amazon, Shopify, and most major subscription services. Your card number, expiry date, and CVV go directly to Stripe - EdgeFlo never sees them.
Tip: If you want to verify this, you can check the network requests in your browser during checkout. The card data goes to Stripe's servers, not EdgeFlo's.
How to make sure you're never charged
Cancel before Day 7 ends (midnight UTC) and you won't owe anything. Here's how:
- Log in to EdgeFlo.
- Go to Settings > Subscription.
- Click Cancel Subscription and confirm.
You'll keep access until the end of your 7-day period, and no charge will be made.
Frequently asked questions
What if I don't have a credit or debit card?
A regular credit or debit card is currently required to start the trial. Prepaid cards, virtual cards, and gift cards aren't accepted.
Can I use a family member's card?
You can use a card in someone else's name, but each card can only be used for one free trial. If the card has already been used for an EdgeFlo trial, you won't be able to start a new one with it.
What if I cancel and want to come back later?
You can resubscribe at any time from Settings > Subscription. The free trial is a one-time offer, so resubscribing goes straight to a paid plan at the standard rate.
